Principles

The science of team science

The Science of Team Science (SciTS) is a multidisciplinary field of study that focuses on understanding and enhancing the processes by which scientific teams organize, communicate, and collaborate to achieve their goals. SciTS examines how diverse expertise, disciplines, and perspectives can be effectively integrated to tackle complex research questions and grand challenges that are beyond the scope of any single investigator or discipline. By applying principles from organizational science, communication, social psychology, and systems thinking, SciTS provides evidence-based frameworks and best practices for fostering successful collaboration. This approach supports the design and management of team-based research, identifies factors that influence team performance and innovation, and promotes the translation of scientific discoveries into practical applications that can have a meaningful impact on society.

Multi Cultural collaborations

The institute encourages multi cultural interactions.  Individuals from diverse cultural, linguistic, and ethnic backgrounds come together to work toward common goals (i.e. treatment planning). This collaboration draws upon the richness of different perspectives, ideas, and experiences, promoting creativity, problem-solving, and innovation. However, it also requires intentional efforts to bridge differences in communication styles, decision-making processes, and expectations. Effective multicultural collaboration fosters mutual respect, inclusivity, and adaptability, creating an environment where all voices are heard and valued. In doing so, it strengthens team cohesion and enhances the ability to tackle complex, global challenges with culturally sensitive and contextually appropriate solutions.
